FIVE FRAMES. ONE MOMENT IN CINEMA HISTORY.

In 1897, French filmmaker Georges Méliès created Après le bal (After the Ball), a short, carefully staged scene in which a woman undresses with the assistance of her maid before bathing.

Featuring Jehanne d'Alcy, the film belongs to the earliest years of cinema, when filmmakers were exploring the possibilities of movement, performance, illusion, and the human body on screen.

This design brings five authentic frames from the film into a single vertical composition. The first and last frames are deliberately cropped, suggesting a continuous strip of film extending beyond the visible print.

The original black-and-white imagery retains the grain, contrast, and visual imperfections of the surviving historical material. A discreet typographic inscription identifies the film, its director, country, and year.
